Hello everybody,
Looking back on our journey to London, I think that it is really a pity that you all missed the trip to Hyde Park and Harrods. These sights, if you can call them so, were so exciting to discover that I can only recommend them for future visits. But what makes me that elated of visiting a park and afterwards browsing through an exaggeratedly expensive department store. It is the fact that you cannot find anything comparable to them anywhere else in the world. So let's start right at the beginning.
After being strolling through the British Museum, the only thing I needed was having a break somewhere in the nature. Therefore, Hyde Park seemed to be the best choice for me. Being in a group of only eleven people, however, also offered a further unexpected advantage. Instead of straightly going there on the planned route, Mrs Rothschädl allowed us to go to Piccadilly Circus and have something to eat before. The following discovery of truly the best burger diner in London, doesn't need any further explanation. Just have a look on Johannes' blog whose opinion I can only share.
The next stop, Hyde Park, then turned out to be much more exciting than expected. Initially holding a speech about the discrimination of black people, the black man at Speakers' Corner, suddenly switched to insulting the audience that critically argued with him. The funny thing about that was however, that a drunk man with a beer bottle in his hand strolling by, also participated and satirised the speaker.

You can believe me that the one hour we spent there really seemed to fly by. So we finally went to Harrods and I can tell you, to be able to explore every corner of the huge department store will take you definitely more than the one hour we got. But with my approach, namely to go to the highest floor at first and than quickly browse through all the different departments, I got fairly close to that. With a wide open mouth and the camera in my hand, I could not believe the luxury in front of me. Imagine, every single room looks and even SMELLS differently! But I definitely fell into the category tourist, because I wasn't even seen by the shop assistants who didn't care about me. However, just in terms of architecture and the whole mass of luxurious products they sell, I consider it a must to go to Harrods.
But after this fulfilling tour without any chance of recreation, I was glad to meet all my colleagues again and finally have a rest at the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace.
This trip, however, was really my highlight of London.

I am really looking forward to reading your blogs!
See you,

Now I almost regret not going to Hyde Park... It's such a pity I didn't see that speaker!
