Leisure time in London

Seven days ago was our last day in London and obviously no one has posted anything so far. That needs to be changed! This blog entry will be about our leisure time in the UK's capital and what I did in my free time.

For those of you who know me, it's quite obvious, however: eating and taking pictures. I'm really into food (both cooking and eating) and London is a great city for that! So many restaurants and so many different cuisines, there is something for everyone. I really enjoyed that. We went to a brilliant Turkish restaurant in Hammersmith on the first day and had a really delicious burger near Piccadilly Circus on the last day, for example.

The burger we ate in Jamie Oliver's Diner

As far as photography was concerned, my personal goal was doing some street photography in black and white. This basically means taking pictures of people I have never met before – and probably will never meet again. For many people this might sound weird (and I've heard that from my classmates a lot) but in my opinion it captures memorable moments far better than photos of sights could do, for instance. If you want a photo of Big Ben, you can buy a postcard or look it up on the internet. Those photos will probably even look better than your own ones, too. However, you won't find your street photos anywhere else because they're very unique. Also, if they tell stories, the journey will stick in your memory even better. 1. I agree with you Johannes: food in London was so good. Can you remember us trying to guess what the secret ingredient in Jamie Oliver's burgers could be? How unimaginative we were not to think of rotten meat. So Johannes, let's make a barbecue this summer, I'll just go now and buy some meat...
